It's a pellet stove, so it has all the normal advantages over a wood stove: self start, thermostat control, don't have to carry and stack wood.
IT IS NOISY NOISY NOISY. Forget about watching TV in ths same room. Had it 3 years now, every year it's needed service before it would run in the fall. FORGET about getting any help from the factory: They won't even take calls from the homeowner, and my dealer is so busy it takes days to get a return call from the repair department.
Compared to my former insert (the Consolidated Dutchwest) which I owned more than 20 years with no problems and heated so well that we never used the circulation fan, this unit barely heats the room with the fan running full speed. Oh and did I tell you about the factory being too aloof to take calls?
DON'T DO IT. The one I have is nothing more than an expensive, problem prone piece of junk. Maybe if I could get to talk to someone who has experience with this unit (like a factory technician) I could actually find out if my stove is a bad unit or they're all this way. My local dealer thinks it's not any worse than any of the others he's seen.
