Likes: Heats the whole house with three cords +/- per year in a cold valley in Appalachian Mountain section of VA. Will hold fire for a day if properly loaded. Bimetallic thermostat air intake controls heat very nicely. No electricity required.

Dislikes: Not very pretty. Requires frequent chimney inspection / cleaning especially in fall and spring.

Comments: This is the only heat source (aside from the sun...almost all windows face south) for this old house build about 1850.
