Bought in 2009 , Price Paid: 2500
Location : Tyngsboro, Ma 1879, USA
Purchased from: Fireplace Retail Store - Complete Heat, Nashua, NH

Likes: Well built.
Easy to use.
Easily heats my house (open 1,700 s.f. plan).
The heat from the wood burning insert is so much more comfortable than gas heat.
The country look of the unit goes with the rest of the house.
Large glass area for viewing the fire.
If you have hot fires, the glass will stay clear all the time.
gigantic firebox, I can put very long logs in the box.
The extended burn technology works well for overnight burns, lasts 8+ hours.
The fan\'s automatic on and off. Set on low, medium or high and forget about it.
Top shelf extends beyond the surround for my half pot with water to humidify the room.
I like the ash shelf below the door to collect ashes when I clean the box.

Dislikes: Fan can be a little loud on high.
Sometimes a little rattle comes from the panel in front of the fan. I will fix it if it comes back.
Other than that, not much. Enjoy if you get one.

Comments: This is a very big unit, so big that it did not fit in my large fireplace box and the installer/dealer had to install a 2.5\" black steel filler piece behind the surround. This unit is bigger than I need, but I wanted the freedom of having a large firebox.

I did some research before I purchase the Summit insert and did not find much information, except for this web site, it was very helpful, so I decided I should also help and post my experience with the Summit but I have the insert. I\'ve had the PE Summit Insert for three weeks now and I\'m glad I choose the Summit. I Do not regret getting this unit, it\'s been a wonderful addition to my house. My family is now so used to the wood burning heat that this unit puts out vs.. the gas heat that they complain if the unit goes out and ask me to get it going again.

This past week it was 5 degrees out and this unit heated my house\'s two story open floor plan with ease. At times I have to crack a window to balance the large amount of heat this unit puts out. I\'m learning how to control the unit by when to add wood, open and close the damper and the speed of the fan. I decided on this unit after reading reviews on here, and it seamed that most of the people who have the PE inserts are very happy with them. I\'m now one of those people.
