The Leyden pumps out heat. Top load is sweet. Beautiful stove. Well made. Large firebox.
Learning curve is viscious, especially if new to burning wood. Afterburn- a.k.a. downdraft- function takes getting used to.
Heating our home with this stove is not a problem. I burned approx. 2 cords of wood (maple/ash) over last winter. Not bad at all. Probably would have burned more if we were home through the day. Door gaskets were no good on delivery. I just replaced them myself. Only when outside temps. were stuck in the single and low double digits 24/7 did the stove get a workout. Otherwise, it can be too much for the stove room. Window cracking is common when she's cranking. I would like to see Travis produce a series of videos on Leyden operation like they've done with the endeavor. Harman has done that with the Oakwood. I talked with a tech. at Travis on several occasions to discuss the stoves functioning and I can't say I was confident in his knowledge of the stove's nuances. Would I buy it again? Not sure. I would definitely shop around. That said, this stove is beautiful and perfectly functional in our living room.
