Likes: Nice to look at, well made, good radiating heat. Very easy to operate. Clean burning. Simple/reliable

Dislikes: Expensive. Soapstone not practical as a cook surface.

Comments: I love my hearthstone homestead woodstove. This is my first woodstove so there has been a learning curve, however after 2 months of nightly fires, I have it down. Very easy to get a nice hot fire going with little babysitting. Once hot, seasoned oak keeps my house in the low 70s all night. It takes me about an hour to get the stove up real cranking heat-500-600 degrees on the stovetop, and it will stay there all day with oak. I love the glass view screen, and it keeps clean. Once a week I shovel out the ashes and clean the glass screen with water and rag. I have this stove mounted on my hearth and vented up through an existing fireplace (stainless liner inside the chimney). I believe my stove operates so well primarily due to the great draft I have.
