Large firebox, can really be loaded for the night. Heats the whole home down to below 0 degrees. Uses 40 percent less wood than old fireplace and cut my LP backup use in half. Very nice looking unit, glass stays clean with a hot fire.
Had to replace fan (Rattle). Air intake booster works poorly.Took over 6 months to get parts, can't even call Vermont Castings (have to go through dealer). Takes to long for fan to kick in. Loud fans.
Picked out this unit for the large firebox and glad we did. We have poor draw but we live behind a hill. Can only be loaded when it gets down to coals (or it smokes house)and then can use only one door. This is a pure heating machine as its usually very warm in the house. We leave it burn usually 24 hrs a day. We disconnectd fan thermastat and just leave that run about med speed. Installer was great but getting parts from manufacturer sucked. Wood and LP savings (and got the $1500 tax credit) will pay for this unit in about 4 years.
