The Pacific Summit way out performed my former Quadra Fire Millenium 4300. It was at least -9 last night. The house is warm and there are always plenty of coals in the morning to start a fire. I didn't think I would like the ash pan much, but it's awesome. You get all the heat our of every coal and safely empty pure ashes that have been sitting and have no live coals.
The only down side I have seen is that it is a bit of a puffer with some backdraft when one opens the door. It doesn't seem to matter much if you run it wide open and slowly open the door.
Unlike Quadra Fire, the Pacific performance rating is an actual estimate. This stove is a great performer and I burn whatever falls in the woods- polar, birch, maple some oak.
