Review of Lennox --- Montlake 230 -- Fireplace Inserted Stove burning Wood only
Hearth.com Wood Stove and Fireplace Review Section - thousands of ratings and reviews on wood, pellet and gas stoves and fireplaces
The Montlake 230 is made by Lennox. Like most wood stoves on the market, we were told with minimal wood the fire would burn 6 - 8 hours (easily) and supply a good amount of heat. We were so excited to purchase a wood stove insert for this main reason. This model is a disappointment. Our main complaint is the amount of wood it takes to keep a fire going, along with the loud blower system that we also purchased. We add fuel (wood) to the fire continually throughout the day as the fire only burns 2 - 4 (max) hours. We've tried everything (like the other review spoke about): using the damper control, varying the wood quantity & quality, cracking the door, closing the door, etc. The fireplace retail shop also told us to stuff the firebox with hard, seasoned wood (we used madrona and alder). The fire last four hours and then was ash. We are in the process of working with the fireplace retail shop & lennox for a resolution. I would not recommend this stove insert.
