Puts out a tremendous amount of heat. Easy to load and control. I can choose to load either two or three times per day without restarting a fire. It keeps our 3,800 sq ft house warm with only a couple space heaters in the farther away bathrooms.
Due to the longer path of smoke discharging through the stove, I suggest making sure you have a good set up for draft. The longer path through the stove is part of what makes it put out more heat (heat exchanger), but it is also a restriction. Straight, vertical pipe is your friend! I have several bends and a horizontal discharge, and I do have to create a draft if the stove is cold, which was less of an issue with the Woodstock Fireview I previously had. For me this is not an issue as we run the stove 24/7 from Oct - April. The stove puts out much more heat than the Fireview and I would recommend it to anybody with a larger home.
Woodstock is a great company. I bought the Progress Hybrid after owning a Woodstock Fireview and both experiences with Woodstock Soapstone have been very positive. I purchased one of the early stoves when they were first sent out and have worked with them to help fine tune the stove (find and issues) for future customers. They continue to put a lot of effort into developing the stove into the best product they can for their customers; very impressive.
