Likes: Great looking, Solidly built, Efficient, Easy to operate, Large viewing window, powerful fan helps move warm air and is not too loud.

Dislikes: Could use a better draft control

Comments: I really love my VC Montpelier. It is my first stove so I had to learn a few tricks such a stop down fire building to get the most out of it. It burns very clean and can heat almost my entire home when I supplement warm air flow to the second floor with a couple of small fans. The draft control really could use more air flow on startup to reduce time to get a hot fire going. Once the fore is started and I have a bed of coals this insert pretty much runs itself. On Long Island oil is crazy expensive and I expect savings to be $1000-$1200 per year. This is my first year so I had to buy wood to get started. However there is an abundance of free Red Oak available in pre-cut rounds so I just have to do the splitting and wait a year to have free fuel.
