I heat my entire house with this stove. No other heat sorce is used all winter. I build a fire in the evening at around 7:00 pm and heat up the house. at around 9:00 pm I fill the burn box with large logs and let them start to cook with the damper wide open. At 9:30 I mix the coals from this fire and break up the logs as much as posible and fill the box the remainder of the way with fresh wood. If I sleep in on Saterday morning (say 9:00 am or so), I still have heat coming from the stove and enough coles to start a fresh fire without lighting a match. Now thats what I call a long burning fire. By the way, on a 28 deg. night the temp in the morning is still 68 deg. or better in the entire house, and we slept confortable with just a single cover on the bed.
The blower fan can be a litle loud (more a function of the air duct on top of the unit), but It isn't unbarable.
I know the chances of someone seeing this rating is slim being in the 500's but I wouldn't recomend any other stove on the market.
