    Congrats!! I am warm right now from some Hickory we cut back in 2010. 2 years in an open field, and its absolutely great.

    How long should I let oak rounds sit before spliting?

    I have always had the most luck splitting right away. It seems if I let it sit a"round," it just strings up and wants to stay together.

    you can rent a 3/4 ton pickup from lowes/home depot for right around 20 for 75 min. I rented one for like 2 hours before for 25-30 bucks. good luck...
