Good point. I was told if there was any moisture within 5 feet it would'nt work.
I believe that when the wood gets rained on and gets wet it wicks the moisture out from the middle of the splits and speeds the seasoning process....
+1 for splitting right away. then stack where it falls. Let it dry right there. Move it when it's dry (lighter).
