I'm going to try again with the new dealer who is taking over the store.
My dealer sold me a floor model Leyden with a warped lid, despite paying for a new one, and then he promptly went out of business. I want a new lid...
I've been agonizing over the same question, castine v oslo. I think I'm going castine as an area heater for first floor for similar reasons....
That's the situation I find myself in now. I've split all the easy stuff. Now I'm after all the garbage.
About an hour with the sledge and wedge...
I would absolutely pay 130 per cord to keep or stay ahead. I find it costs WAY more than that around here. This nursery wouldn't happen to be in...
You don't have to buy log length or pre-split.
You can often buy a truck load of rounds already cut to 18" or so. All you have to do is split them.
I hand spilt 30 to 60 minutes a day. Its exercise. And it's productive. But I don't mind taking my time with it.
So I passed. I knew it was smaller than I wanted, but thought it was a good deal for a F3CB.
Since its not a F3CB, now it seems over priced. I...
Want to be prepared before I meet...
That stack is a thing of beauty. Admiring them never gets old.
I have almost all uglies. I scrounge leftovers. A half dozen wedges and a...
I'm looking at past threads on the stove, and it seems to be the older model.
No ash pan?
Not as efficient?
More concerning to me, is it NOT EMBER...
Agreed not very powerful. Meant for those small European homes.
Not my style, but I can appreciate a well designed stove.
This sounds like it fits:
Looking at a Jotul 3TD tomorrow.
How is this different from a F3 CB?
Anything I need to know?
I'm no expert, but my dealer recommended I unbolt the burn tubes in my future jotul and sweep down into the stove.
I'm a big fan of the freestanding stove.
I can easily see a Jotul F3 sitting in there.
This would happen to us on warmer days especially if we also had a bathroom fan, the kitchen range fan, or the dryer running.
That first pic could easily be me, except I have a rear window, (and I fill the passenger seat).
Got to get me a truck
That's very generous, thank you, but I've got a a massive pile sitting in the front yard I've got to get to before I'm allowed anymore wood on the...
vents closed in the master.
I'll stay alert. Timing is everything in life.
Ok, webby, you called it.
They were very firm that my only recourse is to deal directly with the dealer. Who is closed. And has been closed since...
My wife would kill me if I had a load of logs like that dumped!
I may just pay for a truck load of already cut logs, and just split. Not free, but...
I think for those stuck with oil heat (no gas in my town) or electric, the savings add up faster. I easily spent 4,000$ in oil last year.
My fishing hobby costs me money I'll never get back, even with the occasional striped bass.
The wood hobby at least has a chance of breaking even....
Why not a stove on the main floor? The chimney can be accessed from the main floor?
If committed to putting stove in basement, how about finishing...
Lots of minerals in the tap water.
ok, thanks. Just hoping to get someone reliable on the speed dial.
This is what I use:
