recently found 200+ variety's of oak .Figure at least half that many maple :rolleyes: My experience has been soft varieties burn hot not real long...

cold wood measures lower % by 3 or more % than fresh splits at say 60- 70 degrees.

ash is good not great wood ,its second tier wood like woody says about like soft maple , not near any oak ,locust or hickory. but seasons fast .Burns...
