Definitely be careful packing on packing it full. I have the freestanding version. Mine will get out of control if conditions are right. It's fairly...
Don't see why you couldn't. I'm in to the digitals myself simply because I can lay on the couch and see temp. It just makes it lot easier. Ok, I'm...
Someone can surely help you out. Maybe post later when more people are here. I have the freestanding version 1800 and am satisfied so far. Drolet...
I use rope gasket for my stove collar because it's a sloppy fit. No problems yet, been doing it for years.
Don't go TOO big or it might not work out well. I'd stay in the 2 cu ft range.
Insulation is almost never a waste. I don't know how much heat is lost in a floor. Can't hurt to insulate the floor.
Wonder if he's Russian? ==c
On the Drolet website my stove (1800) is now classified as a large instead of medium. Not that it makes any difference but I found it odd to...

Here's the finished project. I'm not too sure about the tile combination but it will work and is functional....
I use a PID controller. No guessing. Just set it and that's it. Plus it shows stove top temp. Costs less than 50 bucks.
Here some pics of what I went with. Construction is with all steel studs including header covered with cement board. I used the stud cavity as the...
Yes, there will be a header.
I started demolition on the basement alcove. You can see where I had the problems with clearance at the front. I plan on replacing those with steel...
Mine pops a little but nothing like that. I'd have it checked out.
I like this. Truth has been spoken.
I always wondered what attracts birds to some chimneys and not others. I definitely have to have a screen on mine.
Hard to beat free.
This is from an SBI stove manual. 2% not 1%.
regularly, the fan can provide a small increase in efficiency, up to 2 percent.
I think I read somewhere that fans on a woodstove increase efficiency by 1%in SBI literature. Not even noticeable.
I've been watching this thread, and have to agree. I know for a FACT that too big isn't good. I'd rather run a small stove hard than have one that's...
Do dogs need a drivers license in Australia? Looks like he's serious. Fire looks good!
It might save you a few bucks a month but they are expensive to buy. I guess it depends on what your local rates are. The payback might take a while.
None of the big box stores carry metal stubs here. They referred my to a drywall company. I curious what others have to say on this topic.
My Drolet can be loaded either way. It still puts out heat either way.
The cripmed end most always goes inside the collar.
Use stove door gasket to make up the difference. Makes a good seal and is much better than mudding in furnace cement.
Looks good so far. We like pics!
I have the Drolet 1800. It has a bigger firebox than the 13 and comes with side shields for closer clearance.
Just do what works for you. Some people like "em" and some don't. Try it for a while and see. I don't see big gains with a blower and they make noise.
Hedge (Osage orange) does it the worst or best.
