NIce work, Did you ever try stacking vertical in the center? I stack 2splits high vertically in the center before I just toss in. Helps with air flow.

This is what I do in the winter. Read a few good posts like yours, have a beer or two,reload the stove when need. Rince , wash repeat. lol.
I agree about the smell of locust isn't the greatest but the heat, ease of splitting far out weighs the smell issue in my book.
