open up your inlet air for ~20-30 minutes before loading with more wood.
I find that softwoods burn better in my Jotul than hardwoods (and the hardwood is 2+ year seasoned in full sun).
Now go get the other 6 ft. Don't be wastin' the BL!

+1!! Those splits are sized for my Jotul F3CB. make 'em bigger and they will burn longer.
Burning sweetgum right now. That's the stuff. I split it with the Fiskars after it seasons in the round for a month. It makes fluffy ash.
I also put a wet sock on the outlet as insurance.

yes, the difference is ease of splitting between green and seasoned is mind-boggling. I split by hand and, when seasoned . . . forget it.
