The judges in the Wood Stove Design Challenge narrowed down the 32 application to 14 finalists - who will compete on the Washington National Mall in November to see who can produce the cleanest and most efficient wood: http://forgreenheat.blogspot.com/2013/01/finalists-announced-for-international.html.
Interesting thing about this is that judges are looking for designs that can thwart the bad burning habits of so many folks - principally using unseasoned wood and not giving stove enough air when it needs it.
The whole question of how much innovation is needed, possible and practical in wood stoves is alive and well!

Despite what they come up with, I always said, keep it simple. If it needs more air, open it up. About green wood..............Nah! Serious, you use your stove long enought it becomes your pal and you get to know it. So it is not that hard to figure out how to get the most out of it under general circumstances.
