First off, I'm new to wood stoves. I purchased a nice looking Jotul. I tore it apart, cleaned it up and reassembled it. I plan putting it on my hearth in front of the fireplace. I have a few questions.
Do these stoves need a damper?
Can I reduce the pipe from 7 to 6 inches?
Can I run this stove 24/7?
I've read about people stuffing aluminum foil in their stoves, what's that about?
Thank you in advance for your help.

A stove pipe damper can be a help with this stove. I'd put one in.
The flue collar for this stove should be 6" to start with. No need to reduce.
Yes, you can run this stove 24/7. It doesn't have a large firebox so this may mean waking up a couple time during cold nights to keep it fed and producing heat.

Thank you for your help. I asked about the 7 inch due to the backplate mentioning something about a 7 inch diameter chimney connector.

I've only seen 6" stove pipe for the Jotul 8.
