Friend of mine got a used Lopi Yankee,Doesnt want to
spring for the high dollar 5ft kit, He needs about 11 ft,
basement install.Anyone know where some can be ordered???
Hopefuly by the foot

Thanks Bobmac

i used dryer vent..but mine was 3 inch....im sure you could make or buy a reducer....

Advance Auto supply has flex hose in 4-5 foot lengths for about $25, Dynamite.com has OAK kits for about $30 bucks, but the tubing is very thin. But for that length, I think he would be better off going with a 3 inch pipe and would not have anywhere near the problem getting the parts he needs to put it all together. All the manuals I have read state the air intake need to be all metal.

Agreed. Installs that require more than 4-5 ft, the OAK tubing should be increased to 3".

You're welcome. It's only $1.80 a foot. http://www.mcmaster.com/#duct-hose/=b2dx72 'high temp metal duct for fumes'.

I've always complained that the stove manufacturers specify to the 'T' what exactly you need for the exhaust but don't say diddily about the OAK as far as length, bends, and diameter.

If they do, I haven't found them!

consider a short legnth of 2 inch pipe clamped to the stove, then crimp down one end of the 3 inch pipe and secure it to the 2 inch pipe with metal tape and a couple taping screws. This will all be behind the stove where it will not be seen. I painted mine with high temp flat black. Looks real neat.

Seriously talk him into getting the Sel-Kirk "Direct Temp" pipe they advertise on this site.

Your Lopi already has as large hole in the intake from which it can pull household air because this heated air is required for better combustion especially on lower settings.

I think the stove would benefit massively from having even more thoroughly heated combustion air.
