2008 Quad Mt Vernon AE. Anyone know about this particular year? I know they had problems back in the day. Found one on Craigslist. Asked the owner if they could fire it up. They said no because they cut the vent piping. Is there a way to test it out without piping?

Follow up question. The owner said that since the AE runs off a thermostat, that we would not be able to turn it on outside this time of year. Is this true?

Nah. Take it outside, hook up the wall control (necessary to run the AE) and run the stove. That stove initially had some operational bugs but they have been corrected, its a very solid heater if operated properly. Its doubtful that things like the control board and wall control have not been replaced, they probably have and have the current version of operation. Whats being asked for this stove?? A new free standing unit Matte Black is around 4500 dollars. Good luck with it.
