Found a 2011-12 stash of Green Team at a nearby vendor. I've burned them in the past from 2008-2010 as a shoulder pellet. I have gone through most of this season on shoulder stuff (Firesides from HD...no complaints) and want to pick up another ton or so for the rest of the season. Managed to keep most of three tons of Barefoots and Somersets out of the burn pot this year!

How has your experience been with this year's Green Team and have you also burned them in past years? Comparisons? Thanks!

I got mine early in 2011 fresh of the press. Not the same heat as say Somerset/Barefoot/Hamers. But for the dollar spent I am happy with them. Ash content was somewhere around 0.6% not the cleanest, But better than some pellets at a compairable price! If I can keep scoring them at a decent price I would burn them all season long! But I am frugal and don't mind a bit of ash in the ash pan. More important to get the most heat for the buck. But if I could score Somersets for the same dollar. I'd run with them too!

JIC someone is looking for them in CT. He is what robbie just sent me.

I burned Green Teams in 2009-2010 season (4 ton) and they were a good pellet. Not great but definitely not bad; they got me thru my first year before finding out what great pellets are like.
Last year, 2010-2011 season, I bought a ton for shoulder and had a horrible time with them leaving a tough, black crud on everything that was impossible to clean. Someone else near me had the same issue; maybe we had a bad batch in the area as others liked them last year. Decent heat though.

Haven't tried them this year, but I have been seeing good results from people. Try a few bags, then decide...but do it quick; sounds like the big box stores are already starting to close out for spring/summer stuff.

I bought 2 tons in September at $177/ton and have been happy with them. I have just under a ton left so i am starting to test out Maine's Choice and MWP because Lowes now wants more for GT than I care to pay them. I'd rather support a small local business if my stove likes MWP.

If you can get the MWP at a good price, I think you will be happy with them. I tried 20 bags and would get a ton or 2 more if the price was right.
Friend in Maine is running MWP...good heat and easy cleaning. What else can you ask for.

$219 per ton delivered. At that price compared to the $275 that Lowes wants for GT picked up, I will gladly support the local pellet house and local pellet manufacturer.

I bought a ton of Greene Gold and a ton of Greene Team, acccording to our friend Robbie they are exactly the same pellet. I've been very happy with the heat and the ash level. The current price of $219/ton at Lowe's is a deal compared to other pellets available in my area. My vote is yes on Greene Team.

Who has them MWP 219 delivered? Not too bad a price. When I got them last fall, they were 200/ton cash and carry; shoud have got more then :red:

Would not touch GT at 275. Heck, I can get Spruce Points for less than that and those are much better.

Maybe they reduced the price. That was a couple weeks ago. They said the high price was because they are greene team "platinum".....

I just burnt Greene Team for a week and they were a good pellet. Nice and warm and low ash but not the best I have used. Now onto Green Supreme, which look to be a soft wood or a mix im not sure.

Is SIB's in jay?

Yep, they're in North Jay, Maine ! I hear good things about them but haven't bought any pellets from them myself.

Now Jay, you aren't gonna' be tryin' to get deep discounts from them claiming that since they named the Town after you.... LOL

I've been burning Greet Team for the last 2 years and really like them. I'm getting temps of 250-260 out the front of my
stove and they burn clean with less ash than other premium brands.
I would rate them in the top 10%. I bought 2 tons of them this year and will buy more next year if they don't change anything.

Here in eastern Mass and Southern NH Lowes is getting a premium for GTs. $279 ton vs $217 for GS and Maine's Choice.I paid $100 less for them last year.

I was at Lowes n Augusta last Friday and they are still $275. They claim they were told by Greene Team that the Platinum pellets are a bettter pellet, therefore the higher price, but Robbie claims Greene Gold, Platinum and Greene Team are all the same. The Platinum certainly look the same. I just happened to run across an "open" bag.

I'm burning MWP's from SIB right now. For $219 delivered, you can't go wrong. I have another ton coming March 3. I hear the guy will deliver statewide for the same price, and Maine's a pretty big place.

I actually got 3 opened bags of the platinums. The forklift had punched through a few bags. I bought them for about $2.50/bag. I burned one bag after burning over a ton of the regular bags. I found that the platinums had a huge amount of fines and left a lot of carbon buildup in the burnpot. I did purchase opened bags so I wont judge them. Just an observation..

I am probably going to buy from him next. I might make it through this year with what I've got though and Id feel bad making him deliver one ton at that price. I may wait to buy a few tons from him in the summer for next year.

I did run into an old coworker at Lowes who was buying Platinums and he said they had a lot more fines than the old Greene Team, which had virtually none.
