Saw on the video dvd from Englander that adhesive is added to the gasket for the combustion blower, but was wondering if people add adhesive to the outer thinner gasket for the motor as well.
thanks

Not usually.....just the gasket by itself. if you add silicone, when you remove the blower to clean it, you'll have to replace the gasket every time.....it will rip.

Silicone is used on the other connection (blower to exhaust pipe flange) because it normally doesn't get taken apart.

great, thanks. I have the thing off now..smells pretty smokey.. any really good way to clean it al out?,

Use a thin putty knife to scrape all the soot from under the blades (on the motor housing), and use a wire brush (gently) on the fan blades themselves. If you have access to compressed air, blow the motor out good too. Most combustion blower motors don't require oiling (unless it says to do so on the motor label).

After the motor/fan is clean, clean inside the blower housing on the stove w/ the wirebrush, etc, vacuum out, and re-assemble with new gasket.

great thanks. been scraping it lightly to clean and the gasket was falling apart pretty good. the bigger gasket inside shows some yellow where it peeks out. maybe some smell is coming from there at startup as well. wish I wouldve ordered that gasket at the same time now.
