On my clean out this am I did the bill test on the door and It was a fail. Adjusted the door to have some tension is on the bill andits a little tough to slide, is this the best way to adjust ? Does this sound ok or should I back it off a little?

The door should not have to latch with a lot of force. If it takes a little tug to pull the dollar bill out, then it's probably good.

True enough, but every stove is a little different. As long as you have a tight fit, it should burn properly IMO.
