Advice please: Have really old pellet stove, tore apart at moment, should I just get a new one?

NP....I have no hands on with that unit....the history from what I've been told is that unit was a joint venture between USSC and ESW in the early 90's
 
Sounds like it's positive pressure too. That would explain the burn back....
