Question:

I would like some information on alcohol fueled logs. I currently do not have a fireplace and have an extremely limited budget. I saw a fireplace which uses these logs. I am interested in any information regarding the safety and appearance of such a fire place.

Answer:

I don't see too many safety problems with these logs, however the appearance of the models I have seen has been lacking. In fact, I've seen electric logs that look better. Alcohol has a very blue/clear flame which is not very visible except in total darkness.

The rumor mill tells me that a new company is about to enter the market for these logs with a greatly improved product. Not sure exactly what and when, though.
