I hope your St. Bernard has a strong neck.

20 pounds of whiskey will slow him down if that thing ever leaks.

Where'd it come from? Looks like a decorative item to me, but who knows? Rick

    Dimensions? Liquid capacity?

It is a charred oak barrel used for wine making normally.

Yup, interesting. I knew the barrels used in large-scale wineries were generally close to 60 gallons, or so. (Some wineries covet the barrels previously used to age whiskey). The scale here is hard to judge with confidence, but this guy looks to be a good deal smaller to me. So, good old Google has just shown me that there are specialty barrel makers (Coopers) today who cater to the home winemakers...offering charred oak barrels in a number of small sizes. Interesting, indeed. Rick

AH...but you're trying to get us to guess what it's current function is...into what service has this little keg been pressed...hmm. What could be inside there? I'd still like the dimensions, or at least a photo of it next to something that gives it scale.

Saw one of those in a local liquor store. It was a "age your own whiskey" kit. You let it age to your taste with a pre charred barrel.
