Bark on the left looks like Birch. Right side looks like Ash.
 
Spruce on left, oak on right.

It doesn't have a piney smell.
 
The 1 on right is grainy and seems to be a soft wood also have to change my mind to spruce and poplar.

By George i believe you're right but the 1 on left is spruce. Good job!!
I've gotta get back in the flow of things.
 
The one on the left looks like Engelmann Spruce, except that the southern most extent of the Engelmann's range is northern New Mexico...
