i have an earthstove 1003c.. the catalyst thermometer went bad.. i asked for one for christmas... i received a magnetic stovetop thermometer.... well the cat thermometer is suppose to run in the area of 1700 degrees... the stove top reads around 600 degrees.. i am trying to figure out what is a good stove top temp to run this stove....

the manual only specifies cat temps ...
