ANY TRICKS OF IDEAS ON REMOVING GAS FIREPLACE?

I am going to be removing my gas fireplace that was put in when the house was built and replace it with a pellet insert. Are there any tricks or ideas that will make the process of removing the fireplace easier? It is encased on an outside wall in a fireplace chase that was built on the house.
