Any tricks to remove silicone sealant?

We installed our Cumberland MF3800 in our basement to help heat the 1st floor...I read here on the forums it wouldn't push out the heat to the upstairs like we wanted without venting and to put it in the area we actually want the heat...I wasn't going to do it but was assured by others it would work so we gave it a shot. Long story short, we are moving it to the living room where it should be

Anyways, since the venting has been used for just a month, we are reusing it. We sealed the outside of the joints with high temp silicone. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove it?

Heat will loosen it. Use a hair dryer or heat gun, be careful of things around the area you are working on. It won't be an easy job.

Removing that stuff is more of a bltch than Joan Rivers. If you want to remove it just so you can pull the pipe sections apart, then slice around the joints with a blade and then it should come apart. It beats the hell out of trying to get it all off.....Joan Rivers!
