Anyone burn River Birch?

Someone asked about it here and I couldn't find any BTU info anywhere. Only an ornamental up here but I believe the Central Atlantic and Tenessee Valley area has a good amount. Can anyone tell us your experience with it?
 
Peel the bark and dry the wood well if your chimney is prone to creosote. Birch gives slightly more BTUs than Ash but needs more drying time.
 
Burns as well as much of the other birch. Split and seasoned the bark will begin to come off like many others - save it for a fire starter. A

And it is a beautiful tree BTW - especially native stands along rivers - like some of the stands I have been around on the hudson.
