Anyone swap their proof of fire switch for a lower range switch?

No pig here, We do have a 21month old daughter and our second daughter is due any day now. thats why I opped for the KidCo Hearth gate and put our Bosca in "Jail"

Bosca is a horrible name to give a kid...
 
Here's the thing your furnace is going to draw air for combustion from someplace this all goes outside just like on the stove, and the convection system on it is going to move a lot of air around (a lot more than the stove does), as a result there will be pressure differences in the house and some of them are likely going to impact the basement room the stove is in.

As for smoldering stuff in the burn pot that can go on for a very long time, in fact this is what normally fools people when they dispose of ashes, only to burn something.

Let us know how you make out with that snap disc and as I said there are several on here that have installed them for the purpose of starting the convection system earlier and stopping it later than the stove normally would, this can lead to issues on both ends on the start the fan end earlier it can lead to the POF opening when the convection fan comes on if it removes too much heat and the switch opens back up then the stove heads for shutdown, on the other end the fans may not always shut off because they don't see the required drop in temperature.
