Article on Beetle infested wood in Utah

Here is a sad story about a billion cubic feet of wood going to waste in Utah. The article says:

"Those trees have been dead so long they are cracked open," he said. "It’s hard to make anything out of them other than firewood."

Other than firewood??? What else is there?????

I have about 3.5 cords of beetle killed pine and spruce I'm burning here this winter. It isn't the highest BTU stuff, but it is a safe buy, as most of it is dry enough to burn immediately after being cut down. The manner in which the beetles infest and kill the trees allows them to dry better than you would expect without being split.
