I am helping a friend with an Ashley 5500 and there does not appear to be a damper control, is this accurate?

Is it self regulating? Seems very odd to not have damper control......what gives?
 
From what I saw in the owners manual, there is NO draft control on that stove.

BTW, that sure looks like a Breckwell "Big E".........
 
That is MY stove, the BigE, where are you seeing this? Love this stove BTW!!
