Attaching heart pad extension to wood floor?

I would like to attach my hearth pad extension to the hardwood floor. Any suggestions? Also, any suggestions on sealing the gap between the raised hearth and the hearth pad. I would like to be able to remove the pad when not in the burning season.

Use a couple picture hanging tabs. Screw to the underside edge and let the screw loop hang outside for a screw to the floor.
