Stupid question but does anyone know if the brass collar on the bottom auger bushing lays on the top or the bottom of the metal plate holding the auger in? The auger itself keeps jamming and I am wondering if it could be the way the bushing is placed.

Thanks

The brass bushing lays on top of the retainer plate so if you're looking in the hopper you should see the "belled" end resting the auger shaft. If you are having jamming troubles make sure the bushing is not showing signs of excessive play or grooved out by spinning inside of the retainer plate. Could also be a weak auger motor. Sometimes the auger motor may turn okay with a small amount of fuel in the hopper and then when its full may not have the umph to turn under a full load. Good luck!
