If thats the only tree they will be done long before the Day is over. You'll have plenty of time to start splitting

What kind of tree is that? Looks like you'll get lots of good wood from it-I hope they cut it to the size like you want them to!

Two trees in front shag bark hickory and a Norway maple. Cherry mostly in back.

Think i split and stacked around 2 cords. 5 ft high by 16 length 1 course. Much more to go.

Yeah one tree had a lot of moss, it should dry out I would think.

How many cords u think? I would guess around 2.

By the way, how was my stack job? Be honest!

I'd say around 2 is pretty accurate; I'm not that great at guessing but you'll know when it is all stacked how much you have.

You have criss-cross supports at the ends and the middle for support, I'd say you did a good job stacking. As long as it stays up that's a good job!

I'd put the cherry and maple together and they'll dry at about the same rate. Depending on "everything" they'll season in a year or less.

OTOH, hickory will break your heart by not being ready when you wanted it. Keep that hickory away from any source of moisture. It'll suck it up like a sponge and then turn about the same consistency as one!

My stacks fall into two categories. Those that have fallen over and those that are going to.

I wonder what the other tree's are thinking, having a couple buddies cut down, then split up right in front of them, you better watch out!!!! lol Looks good, should keep you nice and warm next year.

I'm excited to burn that hickory, but what you said and I heard the bugs love it too. Any way to protect the wood from bugs?

And omg is it a PITA to split, think I might have nightmares about splitting the big rounds!

And btw I did put the maple and hickory together....

Got more done today, the big hickory rounds are terrible to split as they are so sinewy. Look at the stacked firewood you will see what i mean.

Starting splitting the cherry. I'm thinking I'm right around 5 cords, maybe half done?

Judging at the split pics looks like you have just about a cord or so

How about now? Looking at the front of it its 16 feet wide.

Busted my butt all day today.

Wow, that's great work in this heat, make sure you drink plenty of water and add a little salt to it, looks like at least 3 solid cords there, nice and neat stacks

Thanks I drank ice water all day. I jumped in the pool and am presently sitting by it drinking beer. I definitely got better at stacking as time went on.

3 cords? Wow that's dissapointing. Thought it was double that. It's now up to 7 full rows 5 feet high 16 feet wide.

I better have lost weight today!
