I can’t keep my burn pot from filling up. My Big E Home Heater was professionally installed about 2 months ago. I have burned about half a ton of pellets so far. I just vacummed the fire box out last night and still woke up to an overfilled burn pot. The glass pretty much stays clean and the fire looks good when it is burning, I keep the damper open almost all the way depending on the settings, I use 2,3,or4. I read were people run these stoves 24/7 and I can’t keep mine running 24hrs. without shutting it down and cleaning it out. The stove is direct vented using 3 inch pipe. I do not have an OAK, my house is over thirty yrs. old and when we installed it it wasn’t even mentioned. I did start stirring the pot more, still it is not helping.

Look for Eric of Kinsman Stoves posts on how to clean a Breckwell Stove... that's what you need to do.

Have you timed the pellet feed cycles? Look in you manual near the last few pages, you'll find a chart that gives you cycle times based on heat setting. Make sure they match, if not call your dealer as you may have a bad board. Could also be the pellets.

The damper will blow out the fire on the # 1 setting if it is all but almost closed.
This happens to mine on occasion, I run mine on high/ low . Which red light is
blinking when you find the stove in that condition ?

Direct vent meaning the pipe runs out through the wall and has a cap? If not, explain.

From the back of the unit there is a T pipe then a 36" & a 12" straight pipe, a 90 and then, I guess is another 36" pipe thru my basement wall, with a stainless elbow and cap. I timed the light for the pellet drop it goes off and then on every 4 seconds on heat setting 4, 6 seconds on #3, and 8 seconds on #2.

Read your owners manual and look for EVL page 4 I think, at home and I am no looking right now. Should have used 4" pipe.

Eric, my bad, it is a "T", a vertical 36" & 12", 90 elbow, a horizontal 24" and a horizontal dura vent cap. My evl figure is 14' plus whatever the cap is equal to.

I would look into an outside air kit. If your damper is open all the way and the burn pot is filling up I think you need more air. Keep your pipes very clean at an evl of 14 and you might be ok. With the Big E running at higher settings I suggest 4" pipe.

i have a napoleon stove that is only 8 bags old, with the same stove pipe setup equal to 14 and have the same problem. tried different brand of pellets still plugs up 2 times a day.i do have outside air kit.

Last night it was on #3 and the damper was about 3/4, and the fire was in the collar this morning. When i open the damper all the way, the fire is up and down. Were do I start with cleaning the vent pipe and how often.

Check for air leakage at door gaskets and anywhere else room air can sneak into the stove. Air leaks give the perception of over-feeding sometimes....just something I've noticed.
