Hello

Just found this. Anyone burn Cherry pits??

$6.25 for 50 lbs bag where wood pellets are say $4.66 per bag for Super Premium. I am using Super Premium because Cherry Pits also have a nice high BTU content.

So let's compare price
1 Ton Cherry pits
$6.25 x 40 (50lbs)bags = $250 Dollars

1 Ton of SP wood Pellets
$4.66 x 50 (40lbs) bags = $233 Dollars

Not that much different?

FUEL PRICES

Worried about RISING corn prices?...well don't worry. Just buy a MULT-FUEL stove, furnace, boiler, or fireplace insert and SWITCH to another fuel such as WOOD PELLETS or big HARD RED WINTER WHEAT ... or switch grass, or any BIO-MASS fuel of-the-future. The latest prices are posted in bags of sizes 40lb, 50lb, or 55lb where a bushel of corn is 55lb bag. BLUE SEAL STOVE CORN is in 40lb bags. Whole corn at a farm feed dealer is usually bagged in 50 bags. Only elevator grain (corn) is bagged in 55lb bushel bags. WOOD PELLETS come in a smaller bag (40 lb), and they burn less-hot than corn or other bio-mass material.

Don did you find cherry pits?

I've been looking for alternatives to wood pellets in the area but the results are lacking. Corn is WAY to expensive at 9.00 a bag. Other options just can't be found. So wood pellets it is.

One fuel that has been discussed on an industrial scale but not for home heat is walnut shells. I wonder what temp. These may need.

Same here, I've been trying to find cherry pits for 3 years with no luck. Corn is available, but at the price, it's not practical.

No, nothing else but wood pellets around here. I am happy with the price right now at $197.00 per ton at Lowe's and Home depot for their Premium pellets. Dodge Grain has the new Super Premium Geneva Wood Pellets this year now for $4.66 per bag. Instead of 6% moisture like premium wood pellets they have 4% moisture for another 200 to 300 BTUs per lb of pellets!!! So they may be comparable to cherry pits for heat output!!!!

My St. Croix Greenfield can burn cherry pits and would love to try but I have no clue where you would find them?!

Inside cherries!

in response to pyro's post on corn prices. 1 ton piced up at the farm is $255.00 which is $5.10 per 40lb bag If you get 4 ton delivered it is $275.00 per ton or $5.50 per 40lb bag That is almost half of what the corn prices pyro was showing
