Thats tonights project.. Hoping to get it done by next Thursday....Base will be natural 2 pestal (made out of large walnut tree limbs) just peeling the bark off.

what sort of joint did you use for the two halves? Biscuit? Looks great. Now come take down this walnut at my place and make some more.

We use hickory boards across the bottom clamp it and screwed it. I have a biscuit joiner but never would have held these slabs.

Looks great. I burn a lot of it and sometimes feel a tiny bit guilty( not enough to matter). My BIL had me ship some out to him in Bend Oregon to make jewelery boxes out of. He sent one to my wife and it looks sharp. I have those guys everywhere and i guess you do as well.

The Bottom should be very interesting. Going to skirt the underneith with milling scraps so it will look very rugged.

To how high of a grit are you going? are you applying more clear between the sandings? My recent method has been using 0000 steel wool between clears, then when I start doing the final sandings I have started wet sanding. It's harder to do inside than it is when you are wetsandig equipment/cars outside, but I'm really liking the results. Usually I'm wet with 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 then I've even buffed with an automotive buffer. You can't do this if your clear isn't rock hard and plenty thick. Try it on a smaller project sometime and tell em what you think.

It's the craziest thing how the wood looks with a crystal clear glass smooth finish on top. Don't know about the durability for a giant harvest table though, maybe a nice semi-gloss would work best for that application.

Its going to be two pedestals made out of a big walnut limb 14 inch's wide. Pealing the bark off and that's it. There will be a board to connect the two pedestals will be a mortise and tendon there.

Been talking about that one! lol Trying to get a real estimate on the hours spent including milling so far and my best guess is 46 man hours and still have the bottom and bench's to go....So the answer to the second question NO! lol (rocking chair's to hard for me)

Yes that's what makes it the sweeetest it is all scrounged wood! I hope to have it done for Thanks Giving dinner!
