Hi all, wondering if a 26 ga. block-off plate would be accpetable, I've seen previous posts regarding the code and whether plate is required but haven't seen anything on thickness. Also, most of the block off-kits I see out there include the ovalized cut out, has anyone seen any with a circular hole? This is why I've resorted to just making my own. Thanks

26 is what i used. that seems to be a generally used thickness.
i made 2 sides, each with the half circle cut out, leaving enough to overlap at the center and high temp silicone togther.
GET some cardboard and make some templates. make it out of cardboard first, save on wasted metal.

26 ga is fine put some insulation above it (kaowool or such ) and seal it up with high temp silicone around the edge and refactory cement around the liner
