image.jpg Tonite at about 3 hours into the burn i was getting these really blue flames. Thought it was cool. Heres a pic but its doesnt show it as good as real life.
 
Looking good but a blue flame means adequate oxygen for complete combustion. Aren't we supposed to starve these things of air?
 
Blue flames indicates a hot fire. It's beautiful to see.

Starving the fire for air would cause smoldering. Instead a modern secondary combustion stove usually leaves the secondary air unrestricted. As the primary air is closed down the draft pulls air thru the secondaries. That helps turbulate and ignite the unburnt wood gases.
