I own the 7500 insert with curved glass front. It is hard to make totally smoke free loading, and I have some broken firebrick. Does anyone have suggestions ( I only load on hot coals and very quickly).

Hello and welcome. I'm not finding info for any Optiscan units, nor a 7500 model. Is this a B&G Optifire zero clearance fireplace? How old? Has this always been a problem or is it more recent?

If this is more recent it could be that the upper part of the chimney or the chimney cap screen is getting plugged.
