Question:
We just bought a home with a Buck fireplace insert. The house is 12 years old (and probably the stove too) and, we can not determine the model number of the Buck stove. It has double metal doors that latch in the center. The stove also includes a blower!
Recently we had a chimney sweep clean and inspect everything. He told us that it is not a good idea to operate the stove WITHOUT running the blower! I may have misunderstood him so, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

There is nothing unusual about the stove .... it is all metal ... no glass ... has an 8 inch stainless steel flue running up through a stone chimney.
Ron, most bucks had a blower which is located on the rear wall of the stove...back in the fireplace. If this is your model, then the sweep is correct - operating without the blower on can cause damage to the blower and wiring. You might say that the blower cools itself by operating.
