I searched without success all over hearth.com for an answer to my ipe question.

I have a lot of ipe scraps (really hard wood that has a lot of natural oils) from a deck I built last summer. Scraps are too small and too numerous to make any projects out it.

When I burn it (in an established fire), it flames nicely and burns long and hot.

Should I be concerned that it generates a lot of black smoke and soot in the insert?

Does black smoke (seen in the insert) contribute to excessive creosote build up?
