Down in Texas for 10 days and the friend I am staying with has a fireplace and a bunch of mesquite. A fireplace sure doesn't give off much heat but dang, does that mesquite we are burning smell nice!
 
Mesquite does nice in a stove for sure! but I prefere it under my meat myself. excellent taste to cook on
 
Thats about all I burn down here. Some live oak when I get a chance but mainly mesquite. Cooks nice as well.
