Burning pallets, pros and cons?

I have access to some pallets that I have been burning
The slats get cut off and split up into pieces for kindling and the beams go in a barrel or stacked in the shed.
I typically put a few pieces in the stove to get a HOT fire going once a day
Are there really any negatives to burning them in a wood stove?
My stove has two large ash pans and it is very easy to clean so the nails really arent a bother

Seems like a silly question but when you get something for nothing there has to be a catch ;-P

don't put to many in at a time or the stove will glow cherry red.

if you look close at some pallets they're oak.

Yeah
I have a VERY sensitive alarm at the bottom of the stairs and it goes off if I put more than one at a time in.
Whenever I get the stack temp to 525 it goes off.
Not that I run at 500 very often but a good hot fire helps to keep things clean, sorta like a nice big order of Xtra Hot Buffalo wings
