Friend of a friend has a bush hog log splitter (from a 3 point) for sale. Wants $150. Seems to be non functioning. Seems light duty to me. Any opinions?

Depends on what's wrong w/ it, and what the specs on it are... Don't know the model, so can't say, but...

What drives it - does it have a hydraulic pump that goes on the PTO, or does it run off the tractor hydraulics?

Does it have a control valve, or does it use the tractor's?

What size is the cylinder?

Is all the hitch hook up stuff there?

Figure $1-200 for a replacement cylinder if that's bad (if you can see rust or pitting on the rod it is...) $80-120 for the valve, $50 each for the hoses... I believe new three-point splitters are between $500 and a grand, so you can figure it out...
